paradise by the dashboard light

So here I sit, far away from home (okay, let's not exaggerate, but I sure feel like a tourist now), a tad of coldness in my toes, a laptop accu running low and still this sensation of ultimate freedom flowing through my body.

How come? Well, the cause of this exceptional situation is quite a pragmatic one - my mother had to finish her papers. All four of them. So, she waved us goodbye, is probably now enjoying herself in an empty house with two cats and the guinea pigs, while we're having the time of our life.

We just watched sunset, and it was amazing. Guess I never truly realized how beautiful that is, and how quickly it happens, too. The actual disappearing part only lasted for a minute, if not less. Maybe that's exactly what makes it so hard to grasp and thereby so intriguing to watch. Ah, and the fact that you can actually see the stars here afterwards too. Quite a reward, I think, for walking all those 700 metres from our camping spot to the beach.

I've got a feeling that this summer - and okay, let's add spring to that too - is going to be pretty amazing. Weird pictures, funny faces, thoughtless comments on whatever pops up in our heads, healthy tans, colourful skirts, delicious ice creams, feet splashing in the river water, collecting blackberries (& making jam, when finding them in abundance at some paradisiacal place), salads to be munched by the bowl - let's be honest, what's not to love?

Yeah, I might be captured in a cracking and sighing caravan, which is missing a lamp, half a bed, a decent refrigerator and moreover is ugly-coloured too - this is still one of the most comforting places I know. For the cracking gives me this feeling of peace, the rattling rain makes me calm and the ugly colour? I used to think it was gold.

Golden times, this summer, is my prediction. :)
